Running visible

Yesterday morning was beautiful, like a summers morning. Total aberration but welcome all the same. I am sick and tired of running the route around my house so drove down to the Phoenix Park and started from there.

It was 18 degrees C and felt like it. I realised on the way down that I had forgotten my running hat. I normally never run without it but I didn’t want to return home so I started without it. I always joke that my hat makes me invisible, and I did feel a bit exposed but what can you do. As my mother always said, no-ones looking at you. The bigger worry was my hair: hats are great for controlling crazy running-hair and sweat. Not to mention making you invisible. I did have a hair tie though and it did its job. I’m not sure if I was any cooler without the hat, and I was lucky that the day was kind of hazy, but I really don’t like sun in my face. It wears me out quicker. Am going to look for one of those visor-type things golfers wear.

All in all it was a glorious 4 miles. I had no breakfast but felt fine. It’s so nice to run in the sun, though it does have its challenges, but I could cope with 4 miles. Would have to be up earlier to go farther in those temperatures. Am hoping to go in the morning, maybe 5 miles, but that depends. My dad is sick again and chances are he will end up in hospital, so I’m not sure if I can get out. We’ll see.
