Seven days of running – day 1.

To deal with the Christmas excess and to set my intention for the New Year, I created a little challenge for myself: go running every day this week, before I go back to work proper next Monday. I got a few runs in last week, but now that the Christmas obligations are pretty much over, I am going to run at least 3 miles every day. Got off to a good start today, 3.5 miles around the block and felt all the better for it.

Aware 10k Sat 14 Dec 2019

Between one thing and another I haven’t done a whole lot of running lately. I was hoping I would be able to run 10k last Saturday morning and somewhat to my surprise I was! I really enjoyed it, despite the freezing temperatures. It was only about 3 Celsius with a freezing wind, so I was concerned about standing around in the cold beforehand. I always struggle to dress appropriately in cold weather because I know that once I get going I will warm up very quickly. That said, it took about 5k to warm up on Saturday…

A bit of motivation

I motivated myself right out the door after my previous post. I’m doing a 10k in a few weeks so don’t want to disgrace myself on the day with a lack of training, therefore am getting out as much as I can. It’s a busy time at work so I’m not sure if I can get out again during the week, so make hay etc. It was cold and clear and lovely. I only did two miles but that was enough to remind me I was alive.

Advent

My running coach Mary Jennings is doing a running Advent calendar and todays action is to write down what we love about running, and keep it somewhere to help when we need motivation. Well I love running because it makes me feel enthusiastic about life. It helps me physically and mentally and has allowed me achieve things I never would have dreamt of. It has led me to meet and interact with people all over the world who also love running. And it burns calories. Is that enough?
