No more slacking

For some reason I always have trouble with the idea of doing any speed work. I’m not sure why really; I always enjoy it when it’s done. I think it’s more just the effort after working all day. The thought of evening runs never do much for me, so my challenge is to get out and do them. A lecture and a headache

My mileage was quite low last week so am determined that there will be no slacking off this week. I went to the dentist at work today, and, as usual, he gave me a lecture and a headache that lasted all day. But nevertheless I went out for my recovery run and enjoyed it. My legs felt ok and it was nice and cool so I ended up doing 3 miles. It was a good start to my running week, despite that dentist.

Wet t-shirts and cold baths

I’m going out tonight - my one social engagement of the summer - so I took Friday off to do my long run and clean my house. We are having a night out with friends from college, and my friend is coming from England and staying with me so I had to prepare the spare room and generally clean the house. 23 degrees

Quick recovery run last night. Well not quick but short. Was a beautiful evening, 23 degrees with a breeze so was very nice. I did some strengthening exercises when I got home and I can tell you I was sweating by the end of them, with all that heat. The body felt fine though. I foam rolled my quads the other night and they have been sore ever since so I think they are telling me I need to do more of that. Maybe this evening if I have the nerve.
