Making myself better

Tonight’s run should have happened yesterday but after the dentist I was taking it easy. And it was freezing. The dentist went better than expected, but there was still a lot of pulling and dragging so I was glad to stay in last night. The weather has turned very cold here - snow is threatened for tomorrow so I said I might as well go tonight while it’s still dry. I know it’s nothing like the polar vortex some parts of the US are getting, but it could be enough to make running difficult. So…

Pre-dentist easy run

Nice easy run tonight, to shake out the legs after Saturday. It was cold, 3 degrees C felt like -1, so I kept all my gear on. It’s the wind that makes it cold; otherwise it was nice, clear and dry. Legs felt a bit heavy but otherwise everything was ok. I really wanted to get out tonight as I have to go to the dentist tomorrow and have two injections so I probably won’t be in the mood for running after that. We’ll see. Wish me luck.

Running high

7 miles long slow run on the agenda yesterday and I crushed it! I actually did 7.17 miles as I wanted to run as far as the shop beside my house to buy a newspaper on the way home. Normally after the end of a long run I don’t run a step further than I have to, but yesterday was different. Tomato face

Tonight’s plan called for hills, so I ran up and down the canal bridge on my regular route. Twice. I finally ventured out in short sleeves tonight - it was 9 degrees but calm so they did help keep me cool on a very pleasant 3 miles. I always enjoy my Thursday evening runs for some reason - I think I feel less pressure than other times, nothing particular to achieve once I tackle a few hills.
