9 miles on the plan for yesterday and it was the first group run with my training buddies. It was about 14 degrees and overcast and misty so ok conditions for running. Two runs to report today. Yesterday my marathon training proper started. I attended a workshop given by my running coach Mary Jennings on Thursday evening. Improvers marathon. So I’m officially an improver. Too right. The running plan is along the lines of last year. What I have to improve is myself. My two main objectives this year are to (i) improve my core strength, and (ii) not put on weight. On the road again

For numerous reasons (work, assignments, family events and illness) I haven’t run in over two weeks. Today was the first day things felt normal so I wanted to go and check that everything still worked. I haven’t run in a few weeks; I pulled something in my shoulder and that laid me up but I have also been lazy, and too full of food and drink to run. But I am not beating myself up. Tomorrow is New Years’ Day and I will try and start the new year with a run. I am running a half marathon in London in March and I did up my training plan for that today.
