100 miles in a month – the halfway mark

I’ve been updating my progress on Facebook as part of this running challenge so my poor blog has been neglected. I’m running 5 days a week now so no one needs updates on that.

I’ve done 55.75 miles out of 100, and at just over half way through the month I’m on target, about 1 mile behind my plan. The weather has been brutal here – we’ve had two named storms in a week, Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis, so that has made things a bit tougher and led to lots of running around in circles trying to avoid the wind. However so far I have managed to avoid getting completely soaked and I am enjoying running so much (for me).

The Mater Foundation created a private Facebook group for people doing the challenge and it’s actually a great source of support and inspiration. Most of us are people grateful for our health and abilities, but some are going through chemotherapy and have other illnesses and are still getting out and running and walking to raise money. The people there have often gotten me out the door with a thankful heart. If anyone would like to support me the link is here – it’s a fund in my Dad’s name for oncology nurse education. You never know when you might need one.

I was thinking of you the other day and wondered how this was going. Thanks for the update, Julie. You rock.

    • Thanks Matt! It’s going good. Sometimes feels more of a burden than others but I’m lucky to be able to do it. How are you getting on?

I was sick this week, which made for an excellent reason to do nothing… (I am normally not the type to get sick enough to need to take sick days, but I had to this week. It’s been rough). I am otherwise engaged in coming up with reasons why I shouldn’t do any exercise after I’m better… So I’m good. 😀

        • Lol! I hope you are feeling better. The desire to run around the streets will come back soon, with the spring.

Hey, how’d your February wind up? I haven’t wanted to pressure for an update… (he said, pressuring for an update).

    Hope all is well, Julie!

    • Well hello Matt! It’s very kind of you to enquire!! It was all fine thanks, did the 100 miles and got my medal today. Between one thing and another I didn’t get a chance to post but I will. I hope you are well – things are getting real here with this virus, races being postponed all over the place.hope all well with you
