The night before

I’m off to London in the morning for a half marathon on Sunday. It’s my first flight in years, post Covid, post everything that’s happened. So I think I have everything I need: just need to get through the horrendous queue for security in Dublin airport. I will relax after that, I hope. Hello, it’s me

Seems it's over a year since I updated my poor neglected blog. I noticed in my bio that I have described it as my record for posterity, so I should treat it as such. In a way there's not been much to say about the last year; in another it was an exceptional year of life, given the pandemic and all. Last of the forties

I got three runs in last week, finishing with six miles last Saturday, which I was delighted with, as I haven’t run that far since the marathon. I intend to do longer runs on Saturdays, to keep myself ready for longer distances when the time comes. I hadn’t intended it to be, but that six mile run turned out to be the last run of my forties - I turn fifty tomorrow. Such a year

What a year 2020 has been! Glad to see the back of it, but at the same time we are heading into a new year of more of the same. We are back in lockdown here, non- essential retail closed, no household visits,  have to stay within 5k of home. I was so annoyed yesterday when it was announced; I really felt we had squandered our advantage from last summer, when we emerged from the first lockdown with a handful of cases. At least we have hope now for a way out. No point falling…
