A win

40 minute run on the agenda yesterday, preferably with hills. After my run down to my parents the other day I thought I would incorporate a visit to them with my training session. However, by the time I got home from work I was thinking of all sorts of excuses why I wouldn’t bother, and would stay local etc etc. But I realised I was being pathetic and copped myself on and said to myself – ‘go down and see your father’. There was a profanity I won’t repeat. None of us ever know if we will ever see anyone again, and that especially applies to my father. I try not to take time for granted, so off I went with no more excuses. And it was very nice, as usual.

It was warm, 20 degrees, so I was a sweaty heap by the time I got there. Luckily my parents don’t mind and I’m always welcome. My poor Dad is very shook, he had a bad fall but doesn’t remember how it happened. God love him. Dementia is so cruel.

I stayed about an hour so it was 9pm before I left. Was cooler and very pleasant but I could feel the day catch up with me and was less energetic on the way home, but I got there, and got a bit of hill training too. Another run ticked off the plan, and another hour with my father. I’d call that a win.
