Exerting myself for charity

Today was a charity event at work where we had to run or walk 2 or 5k, take a photo and make a donation. So I exerted myself to extend my run to 3.1 miles/5k. I found I’ve been running a bit faster than usual during the pandemic – for no other reason than I’m anxious to get home. A plank a day

I hadn’t ran since last Wednesday and I could feel the lack of activity so it was time to get out again. Not that I’ve been entirely idle; my running coach is doing a ‘Plank a Day’ challenge for the month of May on Facebook and to my great surprise I have done all the required exercises every day. Front plank, side planks and some push-ups. I’m pretty pathetic at the push-ups but no point in wasting the lack-of-commute time that the pandemic has provided. Back to work

I didn’t run at all last week. I actually thought I was getting corona virus last Sunday - had a pain in my chest and felt a bit fluey so I put in a few worried hours praying it wouldn’t get worse. It didn’t thankfully, but I decided I should look after myself last week just in case, so I didn’t run. I didn’t go out much at all, only for shopping and up and down to my mother. Another abnormal run

Another pre-work 2 miles this morning. More overcast but just as quiet, though I did say good morning to 3 people who were looking at me. Getting up at (almost) my usual time during the week is a good idea I think; it won’t be too much of a shock to the system when eventually things go back to normal. But who knows when that will be?
