Virtual marathon training

So the Dublin marathon has been officially cancelled for this year: first time in 41 years there will be no marathon in Dublin on the October bank holiday weekend. Sad but inevitable. All entries are automatically deferred to next year, unless you want a refund, which is fair enough. I don’t want a refund thanks!

However my running coach is still doing marathon training this year, and I have already signed up! We might do a virtual marathon or organise our own. Either way I’m going to train over the summer with a gang, however that will work during the pandemic. I am looking forward to it; it will give a structure to my life and get me out of the house. Next thing is to lose a bit of weight. Deja vu all over again.

This is also the story of my running life, it seems. Not the marathon part, obviously. You’re way better than I am at that!

    • I am annoyed with myself as usual that I let the weight go on over the last few months. Need to take control of it now

Yeah, I’m with you on that too… I saw it creeping upward and didn’t like it, but didn’t do anything about it, either. Now I’m paying for it…

        • All the bad stuff is way too easy to eat

            And delicious…

          • I know! Sometimes it’s worth it, sometimes not. I’ve tipped over the edge now so will try and gain a bit of discipline

I am too… I’ve started limiting myself to single servings at meal times, since I know eliminating something isn’t going to work long term…. I like bread and rice (and m&ms) too much.

          • I find eating too late does me damage so am trying to stop eating earlier in the day. Trouble is each time I do it it gets harder and harder

  2. Wow – cancelling things in October is a tough message!

    • I know – I don’t think it will be the only one.
